One person was rescued from a house fire in Deerfield Beach early Monday and taken to a hospital in serious condition, officials said.
It was about 1:30 a.m. when the people living in the home at 1320 NE Fourth Ct. called 911 to report the fire, according to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane, spokesman for the agency.
About two dozen firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the single-story home and two people outside the residence.
After a search, one person was found inside a bedroom where the fire appears to have started, Kane said.
“The victim was subsequently transported to Broward Health North in a condition considered to be life-threatening,” Kane said. The person’s identity was not disclosed.
No other injuries were reported and the fire was completely put out within about ten minutes.
Its cause is being investigated by the Florida State Fire Marshal.
