Tinder rolls out new ‘Spring Break Mode’ feature in South Florida

Tinder is looking to match up daters even before they head to popular spring break hot spots in South Florida.

The dating app, which allows people to swipe left or right depending on whether they’re interested in someone, has added a “spring break mode” so that people can see who else is traveling to their spring getaway city. Miami and Fort Lauderdale are included in the top destinations where the service is being rolled out.

Other cities include Daytona Beach, Destin Beach, Las Vegas, the Bahamas, Acapulco and Cancun.

“Spring break mode highlights classic spring break hot spots,” said a press representative for the dating app. To select the cities for the feature, the company looked at swiping activity during March 2018 and found that certain cities experienced twice, 10 times or 100-times increase in activity compared to the previous month.

How does the new feature work? Users need to visit the app and look for the spring break card. Then they can add their spring break destination. The app will then highlight the destination that potential matches are also bound for on their profiles.

“So you can match and chat before you pack your bags and go,” the company’s blog says.

The service, which launched Monday, will be available through March 31.
