Fort Lauderdale demands FPL and subcontractors pay up for major water pipe break that left city dry

The city has put that cost at $558,271. The amount includes $371,613 to make the temporary and permanent repairs, $119,989 to cover payroll for the emergency staff involved, $50,000 to send out Code Red alerts advising residents of the water situation, and $16,669 to run the city’s Emergency Operations Center and to distribute bottled water during the emergency.
