Dozens of Bahamians kicked off ferry headed to Fort Lauderdale, adding to Dorian evacuation confusion

Customs officials said the ferry was asked to stop in Nassau, where passengers could obtain visas, and then proceed to Fort Lauderdale. Instead of making that stop, the ship’s crew ordered passengers without visas off the ship, officials said. U.S. Customs’ pre-clearance station at Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport is not operating. The airport suffered heavy damage in the storm.
