Man pistol-whipped, ‘ambushed’ during robbery at his Miramar home; woman detained

One of three suspects accused of attacking and robbing a man at his Miramar home and then stealing his French bulldog, has been detained, police said.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Monday, Miramar officers near the 3000 block of Southwest 128th Terrace heard gunshots and responded to a home in the area, police department spokesperson Janice McIntosh said in a statement Monday afternoon.

A man was found at the home with “injuries consistent with being pistol-whipped,” and officers saw bullet shell casings at the scene, McIntosh said.

The man told officers that he heard a noise and a motion-activated light went off outside his home, and he was “ambushed” and robbed by three people once he went outside, according to McIntosh. His French bulldog was taken during the attack but later found in the area.

The sole suspect to be detained as of Monday afternoon was identified as Juliana Serna, 21, according to McIntosh.

Additional information has not been released.
