Dolphins’ Chop Robinson ruled out vs. Bills; Miami shakes up roster’s tight ends

Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Chop Robinson will not clear concussion protocol in time for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

Robinson was ruled out Saturday after he was deemed doubtful Friday.

Robinson exited the Oct. 30 loss to the Baltimore Ravens with the concussion, walking off the field with a towel draped over his head. He returned to a limited practice Friday.

Robinson will miss Sunday’s game after the Dolphins also traded fellow outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips within the past week. Opposite starter Bradley Chubb, the Dolphins have options on the edge in Matthew Judon, Cameron Goode and Quinton Bell, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday. Miami also signed Andre Carter II this week off the Detroit Lions’ practice squad.

Robinson joins wide receiver and kick returner Dee Eskridge (shoulder) as Dolphins out for Sunday. Cornerback Rasul Douglas (foot/ankle) is doubtful, and four players are questionable: running back Ollie Gordon II (ankle), tight end Julian Hill (ankle) and safeties Ashtyn Davis (quadriceps) and Ifeatu Melifonwu (thumb/foot).

TE shakeup

With the spot opened up by waiving tight end Tanner Conner earlier this week, the Dolphins promoted fellow tight end Hayden Rucci up from the practice squad to sign him onto the active roster.

Rucci, an undrafted player in 2024, has already been elevated from the practice squad the past two games, against the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens.

He’s now the third tight end on the roster with Hill and Greg Dulcich while Darren Waller is on injured reserve recovering from a pectoral injury.

Conner was brought back Saturday onto the team’s practice squad, as coach Mike McDaniel said he would Friday following the Thursday cut from the roster.

In addition to Bell, Miami elevated cornerback Isaiah Johnson from the practice squad to the game-day roster for Sunday.

It’s the third and final elevation the Dolphins have available for each. If they want to have either player play another game again this season, they must sign them to the 53-man roster.
