A Lauderhill man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly shooting a long rifle outside of a vacation rental home in Plantation where at least two dozen people were partying, police said.
Multiple neighbors in the area of the 12000 block of Northwest Sixth Street called 911 about 5 p.m. to report what sounded like a “shootout” and people running from the area while cars drove off, according to a probable cause affidavit. Officers arrived and stopped two cars fleeing the neighborhood, one a white Mercedes with five people inside and the other a red Tesla driven by Trayvon Tashambe Forrest, 26.
An officer saw a long AR pistol on the front passenger seat in the Tesla, a bullet home in the driver’s side door and the glass shattered on the passenger’s side of the car, the affidavit said.
A total of 23 people were still at the Airbnb party when detectives arrived. Witnesses told the detectives some of the guests started to argue and that Forrest was pushed out of the front gate of the home, according to the affidavit.
Forrest allegedly took out a long gun from the red Tesla parked in the driveway and walked back toward the home, witnesses told detectives. Multiple people heard gunshots coming from the driveway, and one of the partygoers told detectives he also shot his own gun when he heard the shots near him, the affidavit said.

One woman inside the home told detectives she ducked for cover after hearing as many as seven gunshots. She looked out a window that was then riddled with bullet holes and saw the driver of the Tesla holding a gun out of the car while driving around the cul-de-sac, according to the affidavit. No one was injured at the home.
Most of the people who were at the party fled before detectives arrived, while others were “uncooperative in this case, and therefore the motive for this shooting is unclear at this time,” said Officer Chavez Grant, a spokesperson for Plantation Police, in a statement Thursday. Illegal drugs were found at the home, “which may have been related to the incident,” he said.
Forrest is facing one count of shooting from a vehicle, court records show. He has been released from the jail after posting bail.
