Two rescued after small plane crash-lands in Everglades in Broward

Two people were rescued after a small plane crash-landed in the Everglades in Broward County Tuesday morning, officials say.

The Cessna 172 took off from North Perry Airport about 8 a.m., according to FlightAware. About 30 minutes later, it crash-landed on a dirt levee in the Everglades due to engine trouble, Broward Fire Rescue Chief Michael Kane said.

The two occupants got out of the plane and first responders took them to a command post at Holiday Park, Kane said. They were not injured.
