Wilton Manors police investigate officer-involved shooting; one person hospitalized

Wilton Manors Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a person hospitalized early Wednesday morning.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to the area near the 200 block of Northeast 26th Street just before 5 a.m. and took one person to Broward Health Medical Center as a trauma patient, according to Frank Guzman, a spokesperson for the agency.

As of 8 a.m., Wilton Manors Police remained on scene. The investigation shut down parts of Northeast 26th Street and North Andrews Avenue, according to Detective Haley Plante, a spokesperson for Wilton Manors Police.

Officials did not provide further details on what led to the shooting, who was involved or the extent of the injuries.

Wilton Manors Police is working with the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate the shooting.
