Jada Alexander, D/F, Cardinal Newman junior: Captain is three-year member of varsity; tied for first on team with 18 goals and added four assists; most proud of being only member of the team to score against Benjamin in 3 years.

Lola Cannova, MF, Cardinal Newman senior: Three-year captain; team offensive MVP and Crusader Award winner; scored 18 goals and six assists this season; As sophomore, two goals, assist against King’s helped send team to the district finals for the first time in school history.

Maiya Castillo, F, FAU High junior: Scored 18 goals and logged six assists in rebound from torn ACL; FAU commit is also a member of the U17 Chilean national team; already school’s all-time record-holder for most career goals, assists and points; scored hat trick in 3 consecutive games.

Jaimaris Diaz, MF, Somerset Academy-Canyons senior: Represented the Dominican Republic in the U17 World Cup; scored 15 goals and had 11 assists for Cougars; two goals in the regional semifinals.

Mary Hartofilis, F, St. John Paul II junior: Leading goal-scorer for the Lions with 16, adding 7 assists; played on varsity since eighth grade; scored winning goal against Boca Raton in 3-2 win; on Ireland U17 national team; committed to Georgia.

Lola Hathorne, MF, King’s Academy junior: Scored 19 goals, 9 assists for Lions, who fell 1-0 to eventual state champion Benjamin in a regional final; anchored midfield for the team that went 15-4-4, had a hat trick on Senior Night.

Iris Hoffman, D, Benjamin junior: Member of the varsity since the eighth grade; scored goal and added two assists; assisted on the winning goal at state.

Sephora Joachim, D, Somerset Academy-Canyons junior: Seven goals and 14 assists; scored goal in state semifinal on free kick to equalize en route to state title; four years on varsity.

Mia Mackrey, King’s Academy sophomore: Had team-leading 26 goals and 16 assists and helped Lions reach the regional final; scored four times in a game.

Noelle Simmons, F, Somerset Academy-Canyons senior: Holds school record for most goals scored in a season at Somerset and Palm Beach Gardens; netted 29 goals and 23 assists this year.

Deioncé Storey, D, King’s Academy sophomore: Five-year varsity member scored six goals and seven assists for the Lions who fell 1-0 to eventual state champion Benjamin in the Class 2A regional final; scored on a PK to top Oxbridge and advance to the district final.

Emily Simon, GKP, Benjamin senior: Captain said the season highlight was a 1-on-1 diving save in the final two minutes in the regional final against King’s; fifth year on varsity; posted 15 shutouts in 19 games and also scored twice; she helped the school win its first state title.

CO-COACHES OF THE YEAR

Hillary Carney, Benjamin: Paced Benjamin to fifth straight district, regional and first state championship. “A lot of people counted us out after our 3 top goal scorers were not returning. And then when we entered the postseason with a 4-5-1 record, almost everyone outside our circle thought we were going to be done after the region. Our group stepped up and each had to contribute.”

Oscar Narvaez, Somerset Academy-Canyons: Led Cougars to first district, regional and state championship; team scored most goals in school history. “I am most proud of sending four of my seniors to play D1 soccer. Happiness is key and I pray that these girls find happiness throughout the season.
