Five people were injured, three seriously, when a boat exploded and caught fire Monday night at the Lauderdale Marina near the popular 15th Street Fisheries restaurant in Fort Lauderdale.
Rescue workers were looking in the water for a possible sixth victim, said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Guzman.
“We have transported five people to area hospitals,” he said, “three of them with traumatic injuries.”
The first 911 calls came in just before 6 p.m. Monday, Guzman said.
The fire spread to a second vessel, he said.
