Top Dolphins-Bills prop bet predictions from Chris Perkins, David Furones

MIAMI GARDENS — The South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Miami Dolphins writers are picking out a pair of prop bets each week in the 2024 season.

Dolphins columnist Chris Perkins and Dolphins reporter David Furones, neither of whom condone gambling, will make predictions on player props they believe will occur for every Dolphins matchup.

Each writer will offer their “Best Bet,” a near 50-50 proposition they believe will occur, and a “Longshot,” which has to be given betting odds of at least +300, or 3-to-1 probability.

Odds are according to the Hard Rock Bet app. Also make sure to check out the Sun Sentinel’s game predictions for Sunday.

Perk’s Best Bet: Dolphins first team to score (+125)

I picked the Dolphins to lose 28-14, but I think they’re capable of hitting on a big play or two. I’d feel better about the defense scoring if lineman Zach Sieler was playing (he scored in the Buffalo playoff game) but I’ll still ride with the Dolphins on this one. After all, they’ve had a 10-0 lead in each of their last two games.

Furones’ Best Bet: De’Von Achane over 86.5 rushing + receiving yards (-115)

Achane has hit 100 yards from scrimmage in each of the three games he has played with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback this season, including the Week 2 loss to these same Buffalo Bills. He gets the necessary touches to hit this over, and Tagovailoa finds him often, whether out of the backfield or when Achane lines up out wide.

Furones is 4-3 in his best bets while Perk has fallen and can’t get up with an embarrassing 2-5 best bets record after the Dolphins game against Arizona.

Perkins’ Longshot: De’Von Achane over 100 yards rushing (+800)

I picked this one before the season started in by Best Bets column. I based this on the opinion that the Bills only care about shutting down wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. They’ll allow Achane to rush for as many yards as he can, knowing he can’t beat them. That’s my thought, and I’m sticking with it, especially considering Achane rushed for 96 yards against the Bills earlier this season and 101 yards in their first meeting last year. He rushed for 56 yards against Buffalo in their final meeting last season.

Furones’ Longshot: Dolphins first half winner / Bills game winner parlay (+500)

Don’t love it, but hey, it’s a longshot for a reason. As you know from our predictions piece, I do have the Bills winning, but what if the Dolphins come out on fire early with their backs against the wall on the season? Maybe Miami comes out with a good game plan against Josh Allen and James Cook while spreading the ball out well offensively, leading to a strong opening scripted drive and some other decent possessions, before Buffalo makes halftime adjustments and takes control.

Perk is 1-6 on his longshots, but still riding a high from that +2,500 win against Indianapolis  Furones is 0-7 on his longshots.
