Dan Sullivan, Fort Lauderdale native who traveled world as advance man to George H. W. Bush, dies at 79

Dan Sullivan, former advance man for then-Vice President George H. W. Bush, died Tuesday at the age of 79. Sullivan grew up in Fort Lauderdale and returned to South Florida frequently during his career, marrying a woman he met in Miami. As Bush’s advance man, he coordinated important meetings with foreign dignitaries during the tumultuous 1980s.
