A big transformation could be in store for a busy commercial area in the northwest part of Fort Lauderdale: A plan would allow as many 4,200 new residences and 1,600 hotel rooms in the future, encouraging a “walkable” community that’ll let new residents live near many pre-existing transportation hubs.
