Alessandrini, Orban Tabbed SSC Swimmers of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced the Athletes of the Week for the week of September 30 – October 6, on Monday afternoon. Nova Southeastern Sharks swimmers Luca Alessandrini (Men’s Swimming) and Kristina Orban (Women’s Swimming) earned honors following their performances this past week.

Alessandrini recorded first- and fourth-place individual finishes at the TYR Fall Invitational at Florida International. The Italian took gold in the 500 Free with a time of 4:38.30. Alessandrini then finished fourth in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:53.76. Swimming second in the 400 Free Relay, Alessandrini helped his squad to a third-place finish following a 3:05.10 mark. The weekly award is the fifth of his career. 

Orban recorded three Top-5 individual finishes, including a win, at the TYR Fall Invitational at Florida International. The Swede’s top performance last week came in the 200 Free, winning the event with an NCAA “B” Cut time of 1:51.43. Orban also finished second in the 100 Fly (56.28) and fifth in the 200 Fly (2:10.52). As a relay swimmer, Orban helped NSU to a win in the 400 Free Relay (3:30.14), a second-place finish in the 200 Free Relay (1:35.22), and a third-place result in the 200 Medley Relay (1:44.97).
