One dead, three injured in five-car crash in Pembroke Pines

One person is dead and three others were hospitalized after a five-car crash in Pembroke Pines Thursday afternoon, police said.

Pembroke Pines Police were at the scene of the crash at U.S. Highway 27 and Pines Boulevard about 2 p.m. The police department in its post on X, formerly Twitter, did not provide details about the five vehicles or the circumstances of the crash.

Amanda Conwell, a spokesperson for the police department, said at least one person was taken to a hospital by helicopter while the other two had minor injuries. Conwell did not immediately know the ages or genders of the people involved.

Additional information was not immediately available.

North lanes of U.S. Highway 27 and the west east lanes of Pines Boulevard are closed as officers investigate.
