Thanks to Daylight Saving Time, those accustomed to seeing the eye-catching light shows on the facade of the Hard Rock’s Guitar Hotel in Fort Lauderdale each night will now have to wait two more hours.
In a recent column on the Hard Rock’s spectacular exterior lights, I mentioned that the hours of these shows were going to change once we set our clocks forward on March 10. A reader asked me to update the hours after the Hard Rock posted them, so here they are:
- 9 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays
- 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays
The previous hours were 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The guitar is lit through a web of 2.3 million LED lights that cover almost every inch of the instrument/hotel. The shows, accompanied by music, can be seen from miles away. Also visible from a distance are laser-light cannons that shoot vertical columns of light from the hotel roof into the sky, suggesting the six strings of the guitar neck and reaching as high as 4 miles into the heavens.
The lights have become a symbol of South Florida and a must-see not just for tourists but for us locals, too.
