‘Something different in Fort Lauderdale’: Couple serves up Italian fast food at Pick-ITA-up

The wife-and-husband dynamic duo behind Fort Lauderdale’s Dal Contadino Trattoria have a new concept.

Kremena and Filomeno Giannino (known in SoFlo as Chef Nuccio, “The Singing Chef”) call their latest Fort Lauderdale eatery Pick-ITA-up — and it’s designed as an Italian cuisine fast-casual eatery where all entrees are $12 and cooked in an open kitchen in less than 10 minutes.

Their tagline: “Italian Fast Food — Where Fast Means Good.”

Kremena Giannino describes it as “something different in Fort Lauderdale and from what we have done so far. Quick, very affordable and created for the growing carryout market, working parents with kids, quick bite on the way home from work … ”

The couple have much experience in the industry, having previously owned Il Paesano Gourmet, Eatapas Spanish Restaurant and Fish N’ Bubbles Seafood Restaurant, building the concepts from the ground up.

Pick-ITA-up had a soft opening in the spring, with a grand opening still on the drawing board, possibly in December. There are also plans to expand the Pick-ITA-up concept with future locations throughout SoFlo.

By the way, Dal Contadino Trattoria recently expanded by adding an event space/dining room (another one is coming later on).

Pick-ITA-up is at 1823 E. Commercial Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. For more information, visit pickitaup.com or call 954-900-3621.
