8 people injured in ‘severe turbulence’ on JetBlue flight to Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE — On Monday, a JetBlue flight from Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Fort Lauderdale experienced “sudden severe turbulence,” injuring seven customers and one crewmember.

According to the airline, the flight landed safely at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where medical staff took the injured people to the hospital. The airplane from this flight was taken out of service and will be inspected.

“JetBlue will work to support our customers and crewmembers,” the airline said.
