The death of a woman who was hit by two trains Sunday morning in Deerfield Beach is being investigated by Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit detectives.
Witnesses said a woman walked around the barriers on the tracks at Dixie Highway north of Hillsboro Boulevard onto the tracks shortly after 9 a.m. While she walking north on the tracks, a southbound Brightline train hit her and flung her onto the adjacent tracks where she was hit again by a Florida East Coast Railway train, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue pronounced her dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld under Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved constitutional amendment that allows victims of crimes to shield their identity from the public.
Representatives of Brightline and an FEC Railway Police special investigator helped with the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said.
