A pedestrian was hit and killed by a freight train in Deerfield Beach early Sunday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
It happened at East Hillsboro Boulevard and North Dixie Highway. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue pronounced the person dead at the scene.
Sheriff’s Office personnel are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
As of 11:30 a.m., Hillsboro Boulevard and Eller Drive at North Dixie Highway are closed to traffic. Drivers are being diverted to alternate routes.
