Seven hospitalized after ‘slow-moving’ crash at auto auction business in Lauderdale Lakes

A vehicle struck at least eight people at a business in Lauderdale Lakes Wednesday morning after its brakes failed, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a business located on the 3500 block of Northwest 21st Street in Lauderdale Lakes, according to Gerdy St. Louis, a spokersperson for the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Seven victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries, according to Broward Fire Rescue Chief Michael Kane. Two had serious injuries, five had minor injuries, and one refused transport.

South Florida Auto Auction, a local vehicle auction, is located at 3500 SW 21st street.

The “slow-moving” vehicle was in the process of being moved when its brakes failed, the Sheriff’s Office said. The investigation is ongoing.
