Anaysha Donjoie was shot on her birthday and called 911 to say she was driving herself to the hospital. She died only hours after turning 20 on Aug. 14, 2022.
Irvin Delisma, 22, is charged with first-degree murder with a firearm in Donjoie’s death, the Broward State Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Delisma was arrested on Aug. 15, the day after the shooting, jail records show, for violating the terms of his felony probation on drug-related and other offenses. A grand jury returned the indictment for the murder charge in mid-December, according to court records.
An online fundraiser for Donjoie, the mother of a 4-year-old girl, said she was “tragically murdered by the father of her child.”

Shortly after 3 a.m. Aug. 14, Broward Sheriff’s deputies in Pompano Beach were alerted to gunshots fired in the area of North Cypress Road and Copans Road near the 40 block of Northeast 23rd Street.
The county’s 911 dispatch center received a call shortly after from Donjoie, who said she was shot and driving herself to Broward Health North, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release on Aug. 15.
Deputies went to the hospital and found Donjoie in her car. She had crashed into a tree, and emergency room staff took her into the hospital where, despite doctors attempting to save her life, she was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office said in the August release.
Court records show Delisma violated his felony probation in a March 2022 drug-related case by leaving his home unauthorized shortly before 2 a.m. Aug. 14. He had also tampered with his GPS ankle monitor shortly after 2:30 a.m., took it off and made it “inoperable,” according to the court document. At the time the document was filed, Delisma’s whereabouts were unknown.
The Sheriff’s Office said in its Aug. 15 news release that a suspect had not been identified and asked anyone with information about the deadly shooting to contact authorities. As of Monday evening, the Sheriff’s Office had not released further details about the shooting and had not identified Delisma as the suspect arrested in connection with Donjoie’s murder.
Court records show Delisma was arraigned on Dec. 20. An arrest warrant signed on Nov. 29, 2022, said Delisma shot the woman multiple times.
A voicemail for Delisma’s attorney left after business hours and an email seeking comment were not returned Monday evening.
Delisma has been arrested several times on felony charges, dating back to at least 2019, court records show. Charges in two separate cases against Delisma in 2019, when he was a minor, were dropped.

In March 2020, Delisma was arrested on a count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after pulling out a gun while in a crowd in the 200 block of Northeast First Avenue in Pompano Beach and pointing it at people. He was wearing a GPS ankle monitor at the time, according to a probable cause affidavit.

In March 2022, Delisma was arrested on over a dozen charges, including trafficking in fentanyl, conspiracy to traffic in fentanyl and delivery of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a school, according to court records.
In July 2022, Delisma was released from jail on a $5,000 bond in the drug-related case. His bond was initially set at $750,000 before it was lowered to about $260,000 and then lowered again to $5,000, court records show. He was required to wear the GPS monitor and have a 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew.
Since Delisma’s arrest in August, he has been sentenced to five years in prison in the March 2020 case and 20 years in prison in the March 2022 case. Delisma remains in the Broward Main Jail.
