Two people were shot and a woman was carjacked near the ALDI plaza in Miramar Saturday afternoon, police say.
About 2:30 p.m., an altercation at an apartment near the 12000 block of Miramar Parkway spilled out into the parking lot, resulting in over 20 gunshots being fired, according to Janice McIntosh, a spokesperson for Miramar Police. One of the suspects involved then fled to the nearby ALDI plaza, where he carjacked a woman and began driving away.
Officers pursued the suspect, who bailed out of the car before police arrested him. Detectives believe two other suspects were involved in the shooting.
Paramedics transported one of the men who was shot to the hospital, where his condition remains unknown. The other man who was shot drove himself, McIntosh said, and has non-life-threatening injuries.
As of late Saturday afternoon, detectives were trying to work backwards to figure out what led to the shooting in the first place and identify the other two suspects.
