A woman from Fort Pierce died early Monday morning after a shooting outside an Airbnb rental in Fort Lauderdale, police said.
Officers went to the 900 block of Southwest 16th Street about 4:30 a.m. and found Myrah Zeigler, 19, lying in the road, Sgt. David Soika, a department spokesperson, said in a news release. She was pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center.
Soika said “a group of adults were involved in a disturbance” that turned into a physical fight before the shooting unfolded. The shooter has not been identified as of Tuesday.
Residents in the area told NBC 6 South Florida that a dozen people were partying into early Monday morning at an Airbnb property in the area.
An Airbnb spokesperson said in a statement to the South Florida Sun Sentinel that the account of the person who booked the reservation has been suspended.
“Airbnb bans parties, and we condemn this senseless act of gun violence,” the statement said.
Detectives ask anyone who witnessed this shooting or anyone with information to call Det. Saint-Jean at 954-828-5570.
