Lauderhill Police officer injured in hit-and-run in Sunrise

A Lauderhill Police officer was injured in a hit-and-run Tuesday evening in Sunrise, police said.

The officer, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital. Information on his injuries was not available Tuesday night.

The officer was hit about 5:35 p.m. during “an investigation” in the 2300 block of University Drive, and the driver fled, Lauderhill Police said in a news release.

The driver was found a short time later, police said.

Sunrise Police are investigating.
