Trump’s return will stop terrorism | Letters to the editor

The New Orleans truck-ramming incident on New Year’s Eve was a tragedy that killed 15 people and injured more than 30 celebrants in the French Quarter. More importantly, it was a warning to us all that we can be reached, and that we can end up dead.

Radical Islam lives in America. They are determined to punish us for our global leadership and our ties to Israel.

There are 22 countries, mostly in the Middle East, who spawn radical Muslims. If only 2% of the 1.2 billion Muslims are radicals, it is an army in the millions. Too many to count have made their way to America via our southern border (thank you, Presidents Obama and Biden).

The New Orleans massacre was the latest reason to hail the election of Donald Trump. He has shown himself to be tough and steadfast in his resolve to fend off crazed invaders who hate America. Jan. 20, 2025 can’t come fast enough.

The triumph of good over evil

Two recent terrorist acts of violence might be related or not. But while they are investigated, we once again face the sad reality that terrorism is never far away. Terrorists have entered the U.S. for a long time without our knowledge.

They came here to prepare and plan for their next attack. Their goals are publicity, intimidation, coercion and destabilization of our country and its countrymen. They want to create fear and convince American citizens that our government is powerless to prevent these attacks from happening.

They are not soldiers. They are radical groups or individuals who use violence to get your attention. They have neither tolerance nor regard for human life.

What they don’t know is that they will never win their war against the freedom of our great nation because they live in a deep darkness.

They are much too blind to know that freedom and justice will always prevail and will outsmart them, every step of the way.

How to save Social Security

While I voted for President Biden and I support most of his policies, I do not see how he can justify hastening the insolvency of Social Security with the new benefits increase that applies to many workers who have a defined benefit pension, as opposed to private sector retirees who do not.

We all worked hard. We all deserve the same benefits.

Furthermore, President-elect Trump has promised to make Social Security benefits tax-free.

That will further hasten the fund’s insolvency but at least it would benefit everyone equally while it lasts. In either case, a solution to the problem of insolvency would far outweigh any benefit from temporary giveaways. Let’s stop the insanity!

Pardoning the rioters

If President-elect Donald Trump pardons the Jan. 6 insurrectionists, will he also tell them not to seek revenge? If he doesn’t, those who are violent may go after family members, or others who cooperated with law enforcement leading to their arrests.
