A Plantation police officer was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a car crash in Davie, police say.
The crash, which involved the officer’s patrol car and another car, occurred at the intersection of Davie Road and State Road 84, Sgt. Kelvin Urbaez, a spokesperson for Davie Police, said in an email.
The Plantation police officer was transported to a local hospital by Davie Fire Rescue. The driver of the other car remained at the scene, getting evaluated by Fire Rescue paramedics.
The details surrounding the crash remain sparse. Urbaez did not say what led to the crash or whether it occurred during a pursuit, referring questions to Plantation Police.
“We do not have any information on the police investigation that led to this incident,” he said.
The intersection of Davie Road and State Road 84 is closed in all directions as of late Tuesday afternoon. Drivers taking the Interstate 595 Westbound exit to Davie Road must continue west on State Road 84.
