Six children were hospitalized after being ejected from a car during a crash in North Lauderdale Friday morning, officials say.
About 7:30 a.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to a call about a crash near Southwest 81st Avenue and Southwest Seventh Court, the Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.
A Toyota 4Runner with eight people inside and a van with one driver had collided, according to Michael Sargis, the North Lauderdale city manager. Six of the eight people in the Toyota were children, and all were ejected from the car. All of the children were transported to local hospitals, but none of their injuries appeared to be life-threatening, Sargis said.
The north and southbound lanes of Southwest 81st Avenue near Southwest Seventh Court in North Lauderdale are shut down as of 9:30 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
