Temperatures will rise through Wednesday before suddenly dipping as a cold front brings cooler, dry air to the region on Thursday and Friday, said the National Weather Service.
Forecasters have also issued a wind advisory for South Florida from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Southwest winds will reach 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, especially along the Atlantic coast.
Gusty winds could be strong enough to blow around unsecured objects or down tree limbs and potentially cause power outages.
Given winds from the Southwest, forecasters are calling for Wednesday to be relatively hot. “Afternoon highs will likely reach or exceed 90 on Wednesday over the eastern half of the peninsula, with some sites potentially approaching daily records,” they said in a statement.
The cold front will bring a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, with the highest likelihood in the northwest sector of South Florida.
There will be a 40% chance of showers Wednesday night into Thursday, with temperature dropping to 60 or so by Friday morning.
Good morning!
We never really get true temperature “roller coasters” here in SFL, but we will at least see some noticeable changes in temps through the week.
Initially temps will warm through Wed before decreasing to slightly below normal late week behind a cold front.#Flwx pic.twitter.com/rv5TN0BNPy

Dry northwesterly air should move into the region following the front, bringing highs in the upper 70s to low 80s on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will begin to rise again by the end of the weekend.
