
DELRAY BEACH — A construction worker died Thursday after he was struck by a toppled excavator that was clearing debris from a demolished home, according to Delray Beach Fire Rescue.
According to an initial report posted on social media by Fire Rescue, the home is located on Lewis Cove. The worker was described as an adult male who was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The post was accompanied by a photo showing the excavator on its side next to a dump truck. The victim was trapped under the claw of the excavator, according to Fire Rescue.
A call seeking further details from Delray Beach Fire Rescue was not immediately returned Thursday.
