More than 200 employers in South Florida have signed up thus far to participate in the 10th annual Top Workplaces program, where employees have the chance to tout their organizations as being among the best places to work in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.
For those who have yet to sign up, there’s still one last chance to join the competition.
The final nomination deadline: Dec. 8, 2023
Any organization with 35 or more employees in the tri-county area is eligible to participate. They can hail from the publicly traded, privately held, nonprofit or government sectors. Participation is free. And there is no obligation to purchase any product or service.
In the past year, Energage, the Sun Sentinel’s research partner for the project, has conducted Top Workplaces surveys for media in 65 markets and surveyed more than 2 million employees at more than 8,000 organizations.
Workplaces are evaluated by their employees using a short 24-question survey. Employers will be surveyed through January 2024.
As a reminder, here are the results of last year’s program, by the numbers:
- Organizations invited: 3,929
- Organizations surveyed: 172
- Winners recognized: 129
- Employees invited to take the survey: 43,425
- Employee survey responses: 18,268
Valuable feedback
Even more important than the numbers, the survey feedback gives insights to company managements about what makes their organizations unique. It gives them a fresh take on how they can improve day-to-day and long-term relationships with employees.
This year, managements are facing many of the same challenges as in previous years. Both employers and employees are seeking to adopt long-term strategies for coping with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, including resignations, maintaining high productivity levels and day-to-day job satisfaction.
And even more so this year than last, workers, both organized and unorganized, want raises and better benefits to help them keep pace with the surging cost of living.
The rules
Through Dec. 8, employees can nominate their own employer or another private- or public-sector organization as a Top Workplace — and tell us why.
Any organization in the public, private, nonprofit or government sectors with 35 or more employees in South Florida is eligible to participate in the forthcoming program.
The workplaces are evaluated by their employees using a short 24-question survey. The survey period started in September and runs through January 2024. The results will be disclosed next spring.
The phone number for nominations is 954-666-0786. To place nominations online, go to topworkplaces.com/nominate/SunSentinel.
