Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies rescued a pilot whose airplane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida Keys Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The pilot was flying a small plane that went down about 3 miles north of Marvin Key in the Lower Keys, said Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Eric Rodriguez. Rodriguez said the plane sank, and there was only one person on board.
The pilot’s medical condition was not immediately known.
