A toddler was shot and killed in Pompano Beach on Saturday afternoon, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
A little before 2 p.m., deputies responded to a call about a shooting near the 500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Pompano Beach, the Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue airlifted the child to a local hospital. Later, the child was pronounced dead “as a result of the shooting,” the release said.
The release did not provide the child’s age or gender. It did not say how the shooting occurred or whether BSO had identified any suspects.
BSO Crime Scene and Homicide Units are investigating the incident, and the Child Protective Investigation Section has been contacted.
