A baby died late Thursday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 75 just north of Sheridan Street in Davie, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Little information was released. The child was under 2 years old and was a passenger in a black GMC SUV driven by a Sunrise woman, 35. According to an initial report, the woman illegally stopped her vehicle in the northbound express lane and “appeared to have been tending to [the] infant in the rear of the vehicle.”
That’s when a second vehicle, a white 2015 Ford truck, struck the SUV from behind. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The FHP report did not note any other injuries.
No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.
