A man was driving southbound in a Hyundai Elantra, approaching the Broward Boulevard overpass about 4 a.m. in the inside center travel lane. A man was lying in the inside center travel lane “for reasons still under investigation,” according to Lt. Indiana Miranda, a spokesperson for Florida Highway Patrol. The driver was unable to maneuver around the man, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lanes were closed until shortly before 8 a.m. as police investigated. Three left lanes remained blocked until about 9 a.m., when the roadway fully reopened, according to live commuter information from the Florida Department of Transportation.
