A Dillard High School student was arrested following a bomb threat that forced the entire school to evacuate Friday morning, according to Fort Lauderdale Police.

Just before 8 a.m., police arrived at the school at 2501 NW 11th St. in Fort Lauderdale.

The boy accused of making the threat “recanted his statements” later on, said Det. Ali Adamson, a spokesperson for Fort Lauderdale Police.
He faces charges of making a false report concerning planting a bomb or explosive weapon and disrupting the functions of an educational institution.

The school was evacuated “in the abundance of caution,” Adamson said.
The police Bomb Squad and K-9s swept the school before students returned to class.
