A single-car, double-fatality crash shut down Interstate 95 northbound just south of Atlantic Boulevard in Pompano Beach for hours Wednesday, officials said.
The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. when the car hit a traffic pole, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The road reopened about 7 p.m.

When troopers arrived, the car was engulfed in flames. Two people, whose ages and gender aren’t yet known, were confirmed dead by fire rescue.
