It’s the opening day of SunFest 2022, and forecasters say a slow-moving front could bring rain showers — and the potential for localized flooding — to West Palm Beach.
The rain is most likely to hit Thursday afternoon “between noon and 4,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Ana Torres-Vazquez, but it could come earlier or later depending on the speed of the front.
If the showers move slowly, there could be localized flooding in West Palm Beach, she said.
SunFest officially kicks off with its first performances scheduled to begin shortly before 6 p.m.
Rain in Fort Lauderdale is expected around 5 p.m., but showers could start as early as 3 p.m. and extend until about 8 p.m., according to the weather service.
Weekend weather could include some isolated showers, forecasters said.
In addition to SunFest, which runs through Sunday, the Fort Lauderdale Air Show is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
