After the accident, Kleiman worked for the sheriff’s human resources department until 1997 when he left for a new job in the private sector. At that time, Kleiman’s computer skills seemed far more advanced than the Sheriff’s Office’s technological capabilities, and he went on to become a computer forensic technician, considered expert enough to testify in court cases and occasionally quoted by the media.
