Florida improves unemployment system, but hundreds of thousands still left waiting

It added that from Sunday, March 15, through Monday, April 20, it made 281,408 payments to out-of-work Floridians totaling more than $125.5 million, most of whom were already in the system before the public health calamity hit the state. The state said the figure included 94,909 people who filed after March 15, which is when the national and state economies started their terrifying slide amid government shutdown orders designed to stop the virus.
