Shark Family,
Coming off the Easter holiday and seeing people around the world adapt their celebrations to the needs of the many, I am reminded of the strength demonstrated in the Sharks community over the past several weeks. Although the cancelations and postponements of so many significant events were forced by the pandemic, we were able to able to act swiftly and decisively at NSU Athletics. I want to express my pride and gratitude for our entire athletic program, from the administration to the coaches and student-athletes, for their professionalism in carrying out what was needed to put us all in a safer situation. Our Sharks truly are amazingly resilient.
As I have said previously, there will be so much more to experience and to navigate through before we come out on the other side of this international crisis. However, the actions of our entire Shark family remain a source of pride in this very serious situation. We remain proactive, optimistic, thoughtful and will continue to lead with a student-centered mindset as we take aim at the future on the other side of this pandemic.
I hope everyone is following us on our social media platforms as well as on our website. This is a great way to stay engaged with our program and with each other. We have a tremendous amount of quality content being produced internally and we love the content that our student-athletes have posted.
Finding opportunity in adversity, our coaches have been able to use this time to develop even stronger relationships with their student-athletes with a new way of interacting that extends beyond the bounds of competition. In the meantime, our student-athletes are proving their resiliency in this situation through their adaptation to online education and are laser-focused on yet another strong academic finish to this semester.
I so look forward to the day that our NSU students, faculty and staff return to campus and when we can all get back to some normalcy. I truly believe that we will have learned some valuable lessons through this crisis, and we will all be better off because of it.
I hope you and your families are staying safe and staying healthy during this time.
