Despite news out of Hong Kong that a dog had tested positive, scientists are still unsure whether that animal had simply come into contact with something that had the virus on it and so a test had come up positive when the dog was not truly infected but simply had the virus on its surface. Although some types of coronavirus can affect animals, COVID-19 is not easily transferable to animals, scientists say.
