The depression was about 1,000 miles east of the Caribbean, moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph, and is forecast to travel generally toward the Bahamas, according to the hurricane center’s 11 p.m. advisory. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. It will get stronger and faster in the next couple of days, and is expected to become a tropical storm by Wednesday morning, forecasters say.
