Dorian struck the northern Bahamas as one of the most powerful Atlantic hurricanes on record, then stalled, pounding the islands for 36 hours. More than half the homes were damaged or destroyed, including most of the homes in shantytowns like The Mudd neighborhood, in the Marsh Harbor area of Abaco, Bahamas. (Fernando Llano / AP)
