FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance and Student-Athlete Wellness Steve Orris announced on Thursday the addition of Jake Suvak to the NSU staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
“I am excited to work alongside the incredible coaches at NSU and to continue and grow the winning tradition of NSU Athletics,” Suvak said
Suvak joins the Sharks after spending the past year as a strength and conditioning intern at the University of South Florida. While in Tampa, Suvak coached athletes of numerous NCAA DI teams, including top-25 ranked baseball, top-25 ranked football, top-25 ranked women’s soccer, men’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s tennis, dance and cheerleading teams.
Prior to USF, Suvak spent the summer of 2018 at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio as an intern, where he developed and implemented a summer strength and conditioning program for incoming freshmen, among other duties. He also spent time as a personal trainer at Exos and as a performance coach at Exos Breakfast Club, both in Tampa, after completing an internship as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor at Accelerated Sport and Adult Performance in Rocky River, Ohio.
“We are excited to add Jake as a member of our staff,” Orris said. “His experience and knowledge will have an immediate positive impact on our program and will be of great benefit to our student-athletes.”
Suvak earned his bachelor of science in Movement Science with a concentration of Exercise Science from Westfield State University in Massachusetts. He’s also slated to wrap up his master of science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from USF in December 2019. He has earned certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Exos as a Performance Specialist and the American Red Cross in First Aid/CPR/AED.
