A missed opportunity to help 1 million low-income Floridians get mobile phone access | Opinion

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of visiting one of those providers, Q Link Wireless. I heard directly from their CEO Issa Asad and learned about the ways that they provide service to low-income individuals across the country, particularly helping provide connectivity in the aftermath of hurricanes and other natural disasters. However, this Florida-based company is unable to provide service to Floridians because of the bureaucratic backlog that has caused applications to be stuck in limbo for years.
