A hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a man on a bicycle in Sunrise is talking to investigators, police said.
The fatal collision happened just before 4 p.m. Monday in the 11500 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard, detectives said.
The bicyclist was eastbound in a bicycle lane on Oakland Park Boulevard when struck by a vehicle that was also traveling east, police said.
The crash closed the eastbound lanes for several hours during the investigation.
“The driver didn’t remain on scene or render aid to the cyclist and was subsequently located by the police,” said Officer Justin Yarborough. “The traffic investigators have been in contact with the driver and are still investigating.”
Police did not release the names of the driver, or the bicyclist who died at the scene.
A decision on charging the driver is pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation, police said.
