Salvadoran murder suspect arrested in Tamarac, cops say

A routine traffic stop in Tamarac has resulted in the arrest of a North Lauderdale man who is wanted for murder in El Salvador, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Carlos Ernesto Lozano Rodríguez, 26, who is a reputed gang member in the U.S. illegally, was stopped just before noon Monday near Northwest 70th Avenue and West McNab Road, officials said.

Rodriguez was driving 2007 Cadillac Escalade and allegedly impeding traffic. When the deputy pulled him over, Rodriguez said he had no Florida driver’s license, but showed a passport from El Salvador instead, investigators said.

The deputy entered the passport information into a national crime database and discovered there was a homicide warrant for Rodriguez. He was also listed as a gang member who was to be considered armed and dangerous, according to Interpol.
