Reports of a former student with a backpack trespassing on campus put J.P. Taravella High School on lockdown for about two hours Thursday morning.
Reports of the incident began about 7:45 a.m., according to Coral Springs police.
Shortly before 9:45 a.m., the agency said via social media that the report about the suspicious person was identified and that police “confirmed no threat or danger to the school.”
Before the all clear was given, police were on the campus of the school at 10600 Riverside Dr. to check the classrooms.
“We’re checking the building just to make sure the subject is not on campus,” said Officer Francis Capre during the lockdown.
Traffic on the local roads to and from the school was diverted during the investigation.
